First off, your style is EVERYTHING, LOVE LOVE YOUR HAIR, I CAN GO ON ON...but I am sure you get my point!
My fashion question would be, I am a 35 year old single mother and I have let myself go, I am on the road to wanting to "LIVE" again, where should I start as far as my wardrobe is concerned, I work in a casual attire work place, and I am about a size 14/16 (working on that as well) what store and or staple pieces would you recommend for someone like me???

First things first, it's important to start off with a good foundation. Do you own any spanx? If not, please invest in one. This product comes in plus sizes and there are a lot of options to choose from, start off with the Slimplicity' High Waist Shaper (Plus Size)
Secondly, no matter what size you are, every woman needs a little black dress, aka LBD. I recommend trying on a dress that will give you a slimming effect(i.e.: sheath dress, wrap dress or fit and flare). Try on a few different styles to determine what compliments your body shape.

The next item, or should I say "items" will be the dress suit. Find a blazer, pants and matching skirt, trust me, you'll never run out of things to pair these separates items with. They can be combined with so many things and can be worn over and over again. They can transition from day to night and season to season.
The third item is simple and traditional, a crisp button-down white blouse. Finding the perfect fit and form that last may cost you a little, but understand that this is an investment. This classic shirt will never go out of style and can be worn for any occasion.

Okay, now we are winding down to the last 2 items. One is simple and the other is bold. You heard the saying, "once you go black, you'll never go back?" Well, I know I'm speaking for every woman when I say, you can never have too many black shoes. Every woman should own a pair of sexy black pumps. If you're going to splurge, make sure the fit is perfect and comfortable. You don't want to just see how pretty it looks in your closet.
Finally, the last item should be bold and make a statement, think accessories or handbags. How about a chunky necklace or Floral jacket. A pop of color can add a little edge to any minimalist ensemble, even if it's just a bold lipstick. Don't forget, trendy items are here today and gone tomorrow. So make sure you don't burn your pockets when choosing an "in season" item.
PS I'm 31 and I'm also a single mother, so I know at times it can be hard. Be optimisic about change. Sometimes, a small change can go a long way.
